IFF Tester
Identification friend or foe (IFF) is a radar-based identification system designed for command and control. It uses a transponder that listens for an interrogation signal and then sends a response that identifies the broadcaster. Captronics IFF tester is an comprehensive product to test different types of IFF systems supporting several standard modes like 1,2, 3/A, C, S, 4²,ELS, EHS and 5².

What is Identification Friend & Foe (IFF)?
With the invention of anti-aircraft guns and missiles which could be fired from a long range, pilot were facing decisive moments, that when during the second world war first IFF systems were discovered. IFF system enables military and civilian air traffic control interrogation systems to identify aircraft, vehicles, or forces as friendly and to determine their bearing and range from the interrogator. The interrogator sends a coded signal to aircraft, the IFF transponder picks up the signal the signal and send back a response mentioning itself as friendly.
About Captronics IFF Tester:
IFF systems perform extremely critical application of identification of aircrafts as friendly or not, so it becomes extremely crucial for testing the transponders and interrogators for their functionality also to check their operations under dynamic RF environment parameters like Pathloss, Antenna Pattern, Delay, Range, Doppler, Multipath. Captronics IFF Tester works under various operations modes like Transponder, Interrogator/TCAS etc. along with transponder modes like 1,2, 3/A, C, S, 4², ELS, EHS and 5².
